Affirmative to Negative

Rule 1: কোনো Affirmative sentence-এ only বা alone থাকলে এবং শব্দটি কোনো ব্যক্তিকে qualify করলে অর্থের পরিবর্তন না করে negative সময় only বা alone-এর পরিবর্তে উক্ত বাক্যের শুরুতে none but বসে। আর কোথাও কোনো পরিবর্তন হবে না । যেমন-

·      Affir : Only Allah can help us.

Neg : None but Allah can help us.

·      Affir : Allah alone can save us from the danger.

Neg : None but Allah can save us from the danger.

Rule 2: কোনো Affirmative sentence-এ only  থাকলে , শব্দ যদি কোনো বস্থুকে নির্দেশ করে তাহলে negative করার সময় nothing but এবং সংখ্যা ক্ষেত্রে not more than/not less than বসে। যেমন-

·      Affir : I have some potato in my warehouse.

Neg : I have nothing but potato in my warehouse.

·      Affir : Saidul is was twenty .

Neg : Saidul is not more than twenty.

Rule 3: কোনো Affirmative sentence-এ Must,have to, has to, থাকলে negative করার সময় Must,have to,has to এর পরিবর্তে can not but/cann’t help + verb এর সাথে ing বসে । বাকী অংশের অপরিবর্ত্ন থাকবে। যেমন-

·      Affir : I must do the work

Neg : I can’t but do this work.

Or

Neg  : I can’t help doing the work

·      Affir : They have to obey the rules.

Neg  : They can not but obey the rules.

Rule 4: কোনো Affirmative sentence-এ Every/all+noun থাকলে Negative করার সময় Every/all+noun এর পরিবর্তে there is no বসে + Every/all-এর পরের noun বসে + but বসে+ প্রদত্ত sentence এর বাকি অংশ বসে। যেমন-

·      Affir : Everymother loves her child.

Neg  : There is no mother but loves  her child.

·      Affir : Every king has a crown.

Neg  : There is no king but has a crown.

·      Affir : Every student respects his teacher.

Neg  : There is no student but respect his teacher.

·      Affir : All men are mortal.

Neg  : There is no man but is mortal.

Rule 5: কোনো Affirmative sentence-এ As soon as থাকলে Negative করার সময় As soon as  এর পরিবর্তে No sooner had বসে+ উক্ত sentence-এর subject বসে + Verb-এর Past participle + বাকী অংশ বসবে এবং sentence মাঝখানে ‘‘,’’ (কমা) than বসবে। যেমন-

·      Affir : As soon as he reached the station, the train left.

Neg  : So sooner had he reached the station than the train left.

·      Affir : As soon as the thief saw the police, he ran away.

Neg  : No sooner had the thief seen the police than he ran

Rule 6: কোনো Affirmative sentence-এ Always থাকলে Negative করার সময় Always  এর পরিবর্তে never বসে এবং Affirmative (key word) শব্দটির বিপরীত শব্দ (Antonymous) বসে। যেমন-

·      Affir : Saiful is always Punctual.

Neg  : Saiful is never late.

·      Affir : I always remember you.

Neg  : I never forget you.

Rule 7: Affirmative Sentence-কে Negative-এ রূপান্তর সময় উক্ত Sentence-এর মধ্যে অবস্থিত Affirmative শব্দটি Negative রূপে বসানো যায় এবং সেক্ষেত্রে উক্ত Negative শব্দটির পূর্বে Not বসাতে হয়। যেমন-

·      Affir : Saiful is agood boy.

Neg  : Saiful is not a bad boy.

·      Affir : I am happy .

Neg  : I am not unhappy.

·      Affir : Selim is honest.

Neg  : Selim in not dishonest.

Transformation-এ খুব বেশী ব্যবহৃত হয় এমন কিছু বিপরীতার্থক (Antonymous) শব্দের তালিকা নিচে দেয়া হল-
